Our mission is to provide support for the CF families in Central Florida.
Because of the nature of the disease, CF patients are discouraged from meeting together to avoid cross-contamination of bacteria
and infections. This can be very trying for parents who yearn to be connected with others who understand what they are
going through. Hopefully, CF Orlando can help CF parents with their feelings of isolation.

Griffin and Kathryn Grainger.

I was born and raised in Ireland and came here to the States when I was 18yrs old. We have two
wonderful children Patrick and Cian. When I was pregnant with Cian we found out that he could possibly have CF and when he
was born we were hopeful that he didn't have CF but within the first few days we knew in our hearts
that he did. Cian had a lot of problems in the first year so I had to work part-time from home. Thankfully I have
a boss that is very understanding and supportive. In the first year I felt so isolated I was overwhelmed with all that you
have to do as a CF parent and Cian had been in the hospital three times. I was so desperate to do something to bring us together
as a community as a support system for each other. When I found out that Kathryn was also intersted in a website to connect
with other CF parents I was so excited. Welcome to CForlando.org and I hope we can all get to know each other,
work together to help and support each other in our journey as CF parents!

When my daughter Emily was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of six weeks, I knew that
my life would never be the same. I had been an elementary school teacher and then I became a stay-at-home mom. I was frustrated
by the difficulty I had in connecting with other CF parents. My passion became to find a way to make the CF families in Central
Florida into a cohesive community where we can share ideas and tips to make each other's lives a little easier. I hope that
you enjoy visiting CF Orlando and that it will help you begin relationships with others in this CF community.
